Setting Sail with Craft: Life on the Road with Our Handmade Pieces

Setting Sail with Craft: Life on the Road with Our Handmade Pieces

When you buy a piece of our handcrafted furniture, you’re not just investing in beautiful design, the craftsmanship or quality, you’re investing in the story, and the care that goes into every stage of the journey. For us, that story doesn’t end when the final coat of paint dries, that’s when the next chapter begins, on the road, with your piece safely packed aboard and ready to set sail to its new home.

Our commitment to quality extends beyond the workshop and into every mile of our furniture delivery across the UK. Whether we’re navigating winding country lanes or busy city streets, our goal is simple: deliver more than just furniture, deliver an expert service.

Charting a course

Unlike large courier companies or mass furniture retailers, we offer a nationwide furniture delivery service that’s personal, reliable, all by the Captain himself. We don’t just drop your item at the door, we bring it into your home, and make sure it’s placed exactly where you want it.

We batch our deliveries by region and plan out efficient weekend routes, often clocking hundreds of miles over a few days. It’s not the easiest way, but it’s the right way for us. It means we can offer *free delivery, keep things personal, and ensure that every handoff is done with care.

For us, delivery isn’t just a transaction, it’s the final stage of a process that started with a single plank of wood or a pencil sketch, and we’re proud to see it through, all the way to your home.

From Workshop to Welcome Mat

The moment your bespoke piece is complete, we begin preparing it for the journey. Whether it’s a butcher’s block island, a handmade larder cupboard, or a rustic dining table, every item is wrapped, padded, and loaded with care, all by hand.

We don’t outsource to faceless logistics networks. There’s no conveyor belt, and no surprise delivery windows. Just us, the same team that built your furniture, now loading it up and delivering it with pride.

As a family run business, we’ve had to find smart, sustainable ways to offer something the big companies often don’t: *free, personal delivery.

We do that by batching orders based on location, carefully planning out our routes, and setting sail (or, more accurately, hitting the road) for a weekend delivery run. Some weekends take us 500 miles or more, with back-to-back stops, from cosy cottages in Cornwall to highland homes in Scotland.

It’s long days and late nights, but it’s the best way we’ve found to keep delivery costs down, and service levels up.

We literally go the extra mile to get our work safely into your home.

Touring the Isles

One of the most rewarding parts of what we do is meeting our customers face-to-face across the UK. Every delivery is an opportunity to connect, hear your stories, and see our work settle into its new home.

Over the years, we’ve delivered furniture to:

  • Family kitchens in Wales

  • Renovated farmhouses in the Scottish Highlands

  • Stylish flats in London

  • Coastal homes in Norfolk and Devon

And we don’t stop at the mainland.

We’re proud to deliver to even the most remote locations and offshore islands, including Orkney, the Isle of Wight, Shetland, and many more. While there’s a small charge to cover ferry costs, the care and service stay exactly the same. It’s something very few other companies offer, but for us, it’s just part of making sure our handcrafted furniture reaches every customer, no matter where they live. The views are just a bonus!

Each stop is different, but every customer has one thing in common: a love for handmade furniture that’s built to last. The picture below shows the stops we’ve made on our journeys, now that’s what I'd call some road miles!

Refuelling the Crew: Bites from the Road

Spending so much time on the road means we’ve become accidental food tourists, and we’re not complaining. One of the unexpected joys of delivering across the UK is discovering the hidden gems along the way.

From crispy fish and chips on the East Coast to farmhouse Cornish ice creams in the South West, we’ve stumbled across some absolute treasures. It’s become a bit of a ritual now, wherever the road takes us, we make time for a good local bite and a quiet moment before hitting the next stop.

It’s these little moments, shared over a takeaway box on a sea wall, or a coffee from a roadside café, that remind us how lucky we are to do what we do. We’re not just delivering furniture; we’re getting to know the country, one beautiful home (and one great snack) at a time.

The Tides We Choose to Follow

With flat-pack convenience and next-day shipping so common today, we choose to do things differently. Our furniture takes time to make, and our deliveries take time to do right. That’s because we believe people still value real relationships, honest craftsmanship, and service with a human touch.

When we arrive at your door, we’re not just dropping off a piece of furniture. We’re delivering a part of our story, and becoming a small part of yours.
